The FiberSource Q150 is a dedicated light generator for fiber optic applications which can accept up to 300 flexible 1 mm fibers, either side or end emitting. A 6000 hour 150W lamp produces a bright white light source.

The basic white light source of the FiberSource Q150 can easily produce a colored light with the insertion of a standard 52mm dichroic filter. The Q150 is compatible with all major fiber manufacturers.

The FiberSource Q150 is available in two versions, a normal version and a special low noise version which should only be used in controlled ambient temperature environments.

Sample project specification

General
The luminaire shall be a dedicated fiber optic illuminator with a 150 watt discharge lamp.

Cable interface
The luminaire shall be provided with a removable fiber optic cable adapter. The adapter shall accommodate cables from 8.3 to 19.3 mm (0.327 - 0.760 in.) in diameter.

Housing
The luminaire shall be constructed of sheet steel and aluminum. The exterior finish shall be an electrostatically applied powder coating. The color shall be black.

Color filters
The luminaire shall accept a square 52 x 52 x 1.1 mm dichroic glass color filter.

Installation
The luminaire shall be capable installation with the base horizontal or vertical. It shall provide four holes of 6 mm (15/64 in.) diameter for attachment. A clearance of no less than 10 centimeters (4 in.) shall be provided at the front and back of the luminaire for ventillation.

Electrical
The luminaire shall operate on 60 Hz supplies at 220 and 230 volts. (Substitute for EU model: The luminaire shall operate on 50 Hz supplies at 230, 240, and 250 volts.) It shall be fitted with a three-prong male IEC socket for connection to AC power. The luminaire shall be electrically grounded. The luminaire shall be cETL certified for compliance with CSA standard C22.2 No. 166 and ETL certified for compliance with ANSI/UL standard 1573. (Certification pending.) It shall conform with EU safety standards EN 60598-1 and EN 60598-2-17, and with EU electromagnetic compatibility standards 50 081-1 and 50 082-1.

The ambient temperature of the luminaire's operating environment shall not exceed 40° C (104° F).
